Installation of Windows

1. Position the Window
   • Stand the Window in the Opening: Place the window so it rests on the base of the wall within the framed opening.
   • Gaps Are Normal: There will be noticeable gaps around the window frame. This is intentional and allows the trims to secure the window.
2. Attach Exterior Window Trims
   • Initial Placement: Position the outside window trims around the exterior side of the opening, using a few screws to hold them temporarily.
   • Remove the Window: Once you know the trims fit correctly, remove the window to fix these trims properly.
   • Reinsert the Window: Place the window back in the opening for the final time, now with the outside trims securely in place.
3. Add Interior Window Trims
   • Tack in Place: Attach the inside trims with a few screws or nails, just enough to hold them while you check alignment and squareness.
   • Check for Square: Use a spirit level or measuring diagonals to confirm the window is straight and centered.
   • Complete the Screws: Once satisfied, secure all the trims fully.
4. Correct Fixings
   • Screw Spacing: For secure attachment, place one screw every third wall log to hold the window firmly in position. This ensures adequate support and helps maintain the integrity of the wall logs.
5. Installing the Individual Trims (Detailed Steps)
   1. Top Trim:
      • Center the top trim over the window.
      • Place one screw on each end to hold it.
   2. Side Trims:
      • Position each side trim under the top window sill, aligning the top edges.
      • Extend the side trims below the window opening as indicated in your plan.
      • Secure each side trim with a screw at the top and bottom.
   3. Bottom Trim:
      • Fit the bottom trim between the two side trims.
      • Fasten it securely in place with screws, forming a tight, neat frame around the window.

By following these steps, you’ll ensure your windows are properly centered, well-supported by the trims, and aesthetically pleasing—both inside and out. A well-installed window not only looks great but also adds to the efficiency and overall structural integrity of your garden room.
